A white dwarf is a very young, dense star that is experiencing fusion reactions, due to atomic nuclei interacting. It is the nuclear core that is hypothesized to exist in much more evolved stars, except for one difference. It is exposed to outer space. This resets all stellar evolution models created in the 1930's-late 2011. [1]
